Frequently asked questions
Practical answers about appointments, fees, insurance and treatment with Mr Mohammed Aldiwani at Spire Leeds Hospital and Nuffield Health Leeds Hospital.
Appointments
What should I expect at my first appointment?
Please arrive around 15 minutes early to complete registration. Bring any referral letters, recent test results and a list of your current medications. The consultation covers your symptoms and history, an examination where appropriate, and a clear plan for any tests or treatment.
Do I need a referral?
No, you can book a private consultation directly through self-referral for many conditions. A GP referral is still useful if you have relevant history or results to share, and some insurers ask for one before they will cover an appointment, so it is worth checking your policy first.
Can you offer video or telephone consultations?
Yes. Video and telephone consultations are available for suitable cases, and are often a convenient option for follow-up appointments once you have been seen in person.
What if I need to cancel?
If you need to change or cancel your appointment, please contact the clinic as early as possible so the slot can be offered to another patient. The team will help you rebook at a time that suits you.
Where are consultations held and what are your clinic hours?
Mr Aldiwani holds regular outpatient consultations and surgical lists across two premier Leeds hospitals:
Spire Leeds Hospital (Roundhay): Monday Mornings · 09:00 – 12:30
Nuffield Health Leeds Hospital (City Centre): Alternate Thursday Afternoons · 14:00 – 17:30
Urgent face-to-face appointments and remote telephone/video consultations are readily arranged upon request.
Fees & insurance
What are your fees?
A new outpatient consultation is £220 and a follow-up is £150. Any diagnostic or treatment costs are explained and agreed in advance, so you always know what to expect before proceeding.
Which insurers do you work with?
Mr Aldiwani is recognized by all leading UK and international private medical insurers, including BUPA, AXA Health, Aviva, Vitality Health, WPA, Cigna Healthcare, Healix, Police Mutual, The Exeter, and Allianz Worldwide Care. Self-pay patients are also welcome.
If your insurer is not listed above, please contact our clinic team directly. We are recognized by virtually all UK schemes and our secretary will gladly verify your pre-authorisation code.
Treatment
Is robotic surgery available privately?
Yes. Mr Aldiwani is a fellowship-trained robotic surgeon offering Da Vinci robotic kidney and prostate surgery privately in Leeds for suitable patients, alongside minimally invasive and open options where those are more appropriate.
What is retroperitoneal kidney surgery?
It is a robotic approach that reaches the kidney from the back, rather than through the abdomen. Where suitable, this avoids the bowel and can support less pain, a quicker recovery and a shorter hospital stay.
Which prostate operations do you offer?
For an enlarged prostate, Mr Aldiwani offers Bipolar TURP, UroLift and Rezūm directly, with HoLEP available for selected cases. For prostate cancer confined to the gland, robotic prostatectomy is offered, with a nerve-sparing technique considered where it is oncologically safe.
What happens if I need an operation?
You will receive a clear explanation of the procedure, what it involves, the expected recovery and any risks, with time to ask questions before you decide. Admission and follow-up are arranged around you, and most procedures are a day case or a short stay.
Not sure which treatment applies to you?
Book an assessment — the right pathway starts with a proper diagnosis, not a guess.
